In Spain we celebrate the day when the 3 wise men went to visit Jesus with a big parade on 5th January followed by presents delivered to the children overnight. King's Day (6th January) is a magic day for children of all ages.

Inter-cultural understanding

A very important part of the Framework for Languages is inter-cultural understanding. It is important that pupils get to know some facts and figures about the geography, culture, way of doing things, current news and affairs of Spain and Latin America. A map of Spain and the world always helps and making reference to it on a regular basis. Also having quizzes or games about general knowledge always works well. Questions can be tailored made for each group according to their knowledge but here are a few to get you started.

What is the capital of Spain?
Name a famous Spanish sports man or sports woman
Name a famous Spanish dance
Name a few cities in Spain
How many people live in Spain?
How many people speak Spanish to some degree in the world?
